The Zentrum polis - Politik lernen in der Schule (AT) together with Demokrative and AdB - Arbeitskreis deutscher Bildungsstätten (D) contributed to the german translation of the short stories "Free my Internet! A graphic journey from infrastructure to shutdowns". This makes evidence-based, graphically illustrated narratives on digital self-determination and the role of Internet infrastructure accessible to a German-speaking readership.
The illustrated short stories allow for a fact-based discussion of the motivation and consequences of Internet blocking, as well as the role and responsibility of telecommunications companies. The brochure comprises four short stories and is suitable for young people aged 12 and over and is available free of charge. In addition to the appealing graphic visualization, each story is accompanied by contextual information, guiding questions and an annotated literature list.
At the online event the illustrated publication "Free my Internet! A Graphic Journey from Infrastructure to Shutdowns" will be presented and didactic implementation possibilities in the classroom will be discussed. Present will be Dr. Rebecca Welge, trainer for democracy and human rights education and co-founder of Demokrative, and Prof. Dr. Tina Freyburg, professor of comparative politics at the University of St. Gallen and co-author of the publication. We are looking forward to the presentation and the exchange with teachers and all interested participants and are available for questions and discussion!
